The Mike Hughes Jazz Trio consists of Mike Hughes on piano, Ravi Knypstra on bass, and Lee Spath on drums. The trio can be downsized to a duo (piano and bass), or expanded to a quartet by adding a saxophone. Because of their years of experience, these musicians faithfully play all the jazz styles from the 40’s to the present. These styles include the standards of Ellington and Gershwin, the bebop tunes of Horace Silver, Dave Brubeck, and Bill Evans, the soulful hits of Ramsey Lewis and Les McCann, and the jazz fusion songs of Chick Corea, Joe Sample, and Herbie Hancock. The trio also plays hip instrumental interpretations of pop songs from the 60’s to the present. The trio is currently playing at Colombo's Restaurant in Eagle Rock, CA every Thursday night from 7 pm until 10 pm.
